Having something fun to look forward to feels important these days. We assure you that we’re doing everything we can to open the festival gates at Bergenhus Fortress on June 10th as planned, but this must happen without compromising the legislations, guidelines, and recommendations made by local council or governmental health officials.
Dear friends. For all the people working within arts and entertainment these days, these are challenging times. But first and foremost, we want to take this opportunity to pay our deepest respect and show our appreciation for the many people working effortlessly day and night to keep us all safe. If you work in the healthcare industry or one of the many other fields crucial to us as a society: from the bottom of our hearts, thank you.
Having something fun to look forward to feels important these days. We assure you that we’re doing everything we can to open the festival gates at Bergenhus Fortress on June 10th as planned, but this must happen without compromising the legislations, guidelines, and recommendations made by local council or governmental health officials and without compromising the safety of our guests, artists and our excellent hard working volunteers and staff.
As we write this, Bergenfest is almost 3 months away. We hope, as everyone does, that the Covid-19 situation is under control by then, but the reality is that we don’t know. Like all other festivals, we are following the development closely and will make necessary decisions in accordance with government guidelines and recommendations in due course.
We understand that our customers and followers have questions about how the current circumstances could affect the festival. Here are some preliminary answers.
Will ticket buyers get a refund if the festival is to be cancelled or postponed?
We are doing everything we can to fulfil the purchase agreement with our customers. The situation we are currently facing affects the entire festival and live entertainment industry, both in Norway and in the rest of the world. Norwegian festival promoters are currently working together with the industry organization NKA on finding a common platform and way forward. Any reimbursement of the ticket price will be subject to all the conditions that will apply at that given time. We cannot predict such circumstances today. We ask for your patience as we work with our colleagues in the industry to find good solutions appropriate to this extraordinary situation.
Has any artists cancelled?
No. If we receive cancellations from artists due to the Covid-19 situation, we will handle it in the same way as we would other cancellations, meaning that we will work on finding an appropriate replacement as soon as possible. In our experience, in any festival with a comprehensive lineup, there will always be some changes to the program.
Is the festival insured?
The festival has insurances, but none that specifically cover the consequences of the outbreak of Covid-19. Generally, after the outbreak of H1N1 (swine flu) in 2009, event insurances don’t cover virus outbreaks like the one we are currently facing.
Do you have a plan to prevent the danger of infection?
Yes. We are currently updating our safety plans based on available information on effective measures to minimize the danger of Covid-19 infection.
Please don’t hesitate to contact us on firstname.lastname@example.org or via our Facebook chat if you should have any further questions.
Talk to you soon. In the meantime: Take good care of each other, wash your hands, and listen to some good music.
Love from the Bergenfest Team
