Sivert Høyem will perform at Bergenfest 2024 Wednesday, June 12! 

After four years with Madrugada, Sivert Høyem is making a comeback as a solo artist! Sivert Høyem has released several successful albums, including "Moon Landing" and "Long Slow Distance", and with his impressive vocal range and a melancholic music style, is considered one of Norway's foremost vocalists and songwriters. On his new album, "On an Island", released in January 2024, Sivert allows sadness to flourish in the most beautiful way possible. The single "The Rust" sets the stage and has been described by Aftenposten as "powerful from one of the country's best voices".

"On an Island" was recorded in the old Zoar church house in Nyksund, and marks a new chapter in Høyem's career. The vision was to create something "simple and stripped-down", and in the spectacular surroundings of what was once Vesterålen's second-largest fishing village, the album came to life. Nothing comes from boxes with pre-programmed sounds, and random noises, crackling woodwork, and the sound of potential ghosts are all part of the experience. It sounds timeless, immediate, and raw. One can only look forward to seek refuge and warmth in one of Norway’s most distinctive voices, serving world-class melancholy at Bergenfest 2024.
