Saturday 13. June 2026

Bombino will perform at Bergenfest 2026 Saturday, June 13.

Bombino is a Tuareg guitarist and songwriter who has established himself as a distinctive voice on the international music scene. Drawing on Tuareg guitar traditions, he blends these with elements of rock, blues and reggae. On the album Azel, he introduced the term Tuareggae, a fusion of Saharan guitar and reggae rhythms that has become a defining feature of his sound.

He has often been referred to as the “Jimi Hendrix of the desert” and has collaborated with artists such as Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys, Keith Richards and Charlie Watts. The album Deran (2018) was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best World Music Album, the first-ever Grammy nomination for an artist from Niger, marking a major breakthrough in Bombino’s international career.

Through his music, Bombino has played a key role in bringing Tuareg culture to a global audience, making this musical tradition accessible to new listeners. Experience one of the world’s most distinctive guitarists at Bergenfest 2026.
