Kings of Convenience

Kings of Convenience

Friday 12. June 2026

Kings of Convenience are set to open Bergenfest on Friday, June 12!

Few stories in Norwegian music are as beautifully intertwined as that of Kings of Convenience. When Eirik Glambek Bøe and Erlend Øye met as classmates in Bergen, no one imagined that a funny rap verse about a teacher would spark a career that later defined an entire wave of intimate, acoustic pop. After their time in the band Skog, the two discovered their own voice as a duo in 1999.

With their debut album Quiet Is the New Loud, Kings of Convenience redefined what quiet pop could be, becoming a natural reference point for a generation of artists who sought closeness and delicate expression over loud volumes and grand productions. The follow-up albums Riot on an Empty Street and Declaration of Dependence further strengthened their reputation as masters of harmony, subtle lyrics, and timeless songwriting.

After a twelve-year break, Peace or Love finally arrived in 2021 — an album that received glowing reviews and sent the duo on nearly three years of sold-out concerts around the world. Now, rumor has it that Eirik and Erlend are already working on what may become their fifth album. But before new studio adventures see the light of day, the duo is heading out on a short and exclusive tour — and we are thrilled to welcome them as the act opening the Bergenfest Weekend on Friday.

Seeing the Bergen duo live is a rare privilege, and now they’re set to open the Bergenfest weekend in a fittingly symbolic way. Expect a rare mix of precision, warmth, and effortless charm when Kings of Convenience bring their iconic harmonies to the festival. It will be an opening that sets the tone for an unforgettable day.
