Side Brok will perform at Bergenfest 2026 Saturday, June 13.
It’s been 25 years since Side Brok first appeared, and more than a decade since their last album. Now the crew from Sunnmøre return with All verda, a split release alongside rural original Sirkel Sag.
Side Brok have always been their own thing within Norwegian hip hop. Their songs move easily between humour and seriousness, local pride and sharp irony, all delivered in dialect. The beats lean on heavy sampling, full of small twists and unexpected turns, shaped by beatmaker Olav R. Øyehaug and producer and frontman Runar Gudnason.
Gudnason’s voice is instantly recognisable: nasal and rhythmically tight, with a flow land lyricial precision that would likely make both language pioneer Ivar Aasen and a golden-age rapper like Q-Tip nod in approval.
On stage, the crew from Hovdebygda come together again, bringing dialect, beats and lines the crowd already knows by heart. If you’re curious about hip hop from a different corner of the map, this is a good place to start.
