The Sophs will perform at Bergenfest on Wednesday, June 10, 2026.
The LA band The Sophs have quickly been singled out as one of the most interesting new rock acts right now. They released their debut album GOLDSTAR in 2024, and since then the attention have grown fast. Songs like “SWEAT” and “Death in the Family” in particular have helped bring the band to a wider audience.
This is a band in the truest sense of the word. Six musicians who write and play together, where the collective matters more than a raised-up front figure. The lyrics are honest and unfiltered, often focused on discomfort, inner conflict and tensions between people. As frontman Ethan Ramon puts it: “Sometimes it's important to write from the perspective of the worst part of yourself.”
Musically, The Sophs move across a broad landscape. You can hear traces of emo (from before the term became a slur), 90s rock, Bright Eyes and pop punk. Even ZZ Top is cited as an influence. Live, it’s the interplay, pace and sense of being a band that drives the shows. A reminder that it’s still worth checking out new guitar-based bands.
